I seem to be doing increasingly more hydraulic jobs lately. Its not a field that I have had much involvement in, beyond doing hose swaps and ram seal sets.
Anyway they're getting more technical but I seem to make progress where others haven't. I've been out to a machine today and somebody has messed with the settings on PRV's. I am now looking to get the gear to take pressure measurements to dial the PRV's back to the book figures.

A quick look at eBay has brought up a couple of gauge kits, I would have to add quite a few fittings to them to get them set up for what I want.
Any specialist suppliers out there with a much broader kit on the market? Thanks

Most pumps / valve blocks with relief valves will have minimus gauge fittings on them, I've got a basic set of gauges ( 0-20 bar, 0-200bar, 0-500 bar) with 2m minimums hoses and connectors. It's sometimes nice to have some Tee's to take pressures where there are no minimus fittings but Depending on what country of origin Or manufacturer the machine is from will depend on what fittings are on the machine. I've built up a set of odd fittings as and when needed, it's hard to predict what you might need in future.

A longer set of minimus hoses or an adaptor to joint hoses is sometimes helpfull if your on your own and need to operate a machine whilst monitoring pressures.

There aren't any minimess fittings on todays machine but I have seen them on the last job I did.
It'll have to be teed in for all services. Maybe best to amass my own fitting set then.

As has been said probably best to buy some guages and collect a stock pile of fittings, I always strip of fittings as they always come in handy.

It sounds like you need to buy a selection of male to female tees for BSP, JIC, metric etc and adaptors to take them to the required threads for the gauge. I've previously concluded that if you're wanting to cover a range of machines you have to fork out on just about every darn fitting ever created to be sure to always make it work. These things never seem to be cheap of course!

We have moved from JIC to ORFS. Most of the machines have been using them for the last 4 years so something else as well

You can apply that to so, so many things!
Tyres, wheels, various vehicle/machine parts etc... all which just have to do the same job while being incompatible with the rest...

the variety of hydraic fittings is just mind boggeling once you think you've seen them all another one pops up to ruin your day

except for toyota fork lifts that use 60 deg bsp but the opposite cone ie male threads have male cone.

Hi, You should have a look at this company, www.hydrotechnik.co.uk they supply test kits for most applications, I have bought various kits from them, i.e. - Bsp, Jic, Orfs and metric.
