Wire handbrake on one axle No ABS, exempt from most of the lights. Cattle float.

Its all doing the same job whether mechanical or electronic, there would be a lot of flat spotted tyres on trucks and trailers if the load sensing was done away with

Been known since September but HGVs for MOT need to be laden from 1st January.

I still won’t be able to achieve these weights as the trailer I have isn’t designed to impose sufficient load on the pin. Due to the internal layout inside the trailer it’s also not possible to load the front of the trailer. Yes I know it’s possible to hire the test station tri axle but it’s not going to couple to an urban artic. I asked this question at an mot on Monday and was told if it’s not possible then it’s not possible and they have to test it as presented

You sure they are not just ride height valves? last time I saw a lsv must be 10 odd years ago on tractors and even longer on trailers.
I can still remember setting up the predominance, and still have my special long flat screwdriver, think we still have the guages as well.

Daf went from mechanical lsv to full ebs brakes approx 2011/12, basically the ebs looks after the brakes, we noticed axle 3 and 4 of the 8 leggers went from having relines once every blue moon to once a year!

The newest is from 1988 and the Volvo shows how to adjust the valve on a plate on the nearside door for a given weight on the axle

There are a few load/brake proportioning systems but basically they are all load sensing, pretty sure the wabco load sensing valve on some of the later trucks gets its info from the pressure lines to the air bags.

Its more to do with the weight, three nine ton axles in a row means putting 27t on the rear of the trailer, at the same time you need 12ton on the neck over the fifth wheel to get the load compensator on the tractor unit loaded up. that makes it an overloaded trailer.

Surely thats only if you are testing tractor & trailer at same time.

Plus they dont have to be fully loaded. 3 9t axles only needs 17.5t to the allowance of 65%

Everyone I know only tests one or the other.

I always ran them in as a combination, not saying they have to be fully loaded but they do need to have a fair bit on them or you will get a fail for insufficient load on axle x. To be sure of a pass and not running the risk of screwing with your ocr score it’s best run tandem axle trailers in for test correctly freighted.

1988 still on mechanical throttle with the little white bushes.
Alternators still falling off?

Engines, were labelled TMD ( m , for marine) 102/ 122 and 162. 122s, were the bread and butter, as main engines and in generator sets. We used to build those in house. Occasionally got a 6 or 7 litre, engine to do
Cummins BT, CT and K series engines, were the common ones, we did.
@James1979 , we used to do the engine surveys, for the Orkney Island,pilot boats, when they came to Buckie, for their annual drydock.

That’s interesting.

They go to Peterhead now I believe.

It’s surprising how common the penta is in the marine world. I was in the engine room of the new-ish Pentland ferry the other day and the two mains are pentas. Thrusters are yanmar but that’s by the by.
