On a similar note ,, I once had a really nice stanley tape that got damaged at the end ,,, but it was new and expensive at the time ,,,, so I just cut the last four inches off , and rivited the end hook back on ...
no bother ,,
I was making gates at the time for folk ,,, I never had any bother ,, my stuff fitted really well once made .
other folk working off my drawings and measurements just couldnt say the same ,,,

I worked for a tight wad with a few tapes like that .We have a fibreglass roll up tape in a nice leather case & it has lost a couple of inches off the end. It has seen many uses over the years & it's no problem as long as you remember to add on the missing inches!
Yep , ,,, its a lot easier to cut a bit off , than it is to try and cut a bit on.I worked for a tight wad with a few tapes like that .
Funny watching the bellend throwing money away reworking stuff , even funnier if it's been away for galv and powder coat !
From the blurb in that link, basically spacing studs out. Thanks never knew what they were for. So my tape has 16" multiples marked in black, great for 8' x 4' sheets I get that but on @pedrobedro link it jumps to 19.5", don't get that at all just doesn't work on a 4' wide sheet.
Only OK if laying sheets horizontal though as far as I can see

The first black diamond is at 19.2” and after that black diamonds appear at 38.4”, 57.6”, 76.8” and 96”, or 8-feet. That is one less stud for every 8-feet of wall, counting the beginning and end studs.
no there not 11mm osb board or chipboard are the worstOnly OK if laying sheets horizontal though as far as I can see
