I have a 2009 Tiguan 2 L and it has started to produce a warning yellow engine on the dash. Interrogation comes up with the following:
DTC definition not found! Please refer to vehicle service manual.
Crash Data Stored-- Side Airbag Rear Drivers side.
It clears OK and sometimes can take ages to reappear.

Now I have a Elsawin disc but it does not allow me to read the vehicle service manual. The car has never had a crash or nudge. A search on the net flagged up a code 01638 for that side bag G526 Is there anyway you can get the build details of the car to see what was fitted on the production line?

I have a feeling the brain is having a midlife crisis as also today whilst driving with the radio on the main screen which displays whatever page you select. I normally have it on the overall consumption page by default suddenly showed the radio details of the channel I had selected. It has never done that for the 6 or so years I have had it. In fact I did not think I had the unit that did it. I don't have the sat nav unit in the centre just the basic radio or cd one.
Any thoughts before I have to go cap in hand to the stealers?

What are you reading the codes with? I would have thought that VCDS (or VAGCOM as was) would be able to read the modules and options set, I would offer to have a look but Stoke is not exactly local.

Is the car a two door or a four door? Being an SUV shaped vehicle I'd assume most of them are four doors but a common problem with some two door vehicles is that when moving the seats back and forth to allow passengers to get in and out of the back, the airbag cable that runs under the seat moves about and is enough to give a loose connection, resulting in airbag warnings. Or could passengers in the back be giving the cable a bit of a kick? Might be worth having a look and wiggling some cables around to see if it helps.
