@Tangledfeet - he used to be a College craft teacher so he's pretty up on metalwork etc, I'm sure you'll know what he's capable of.
Indeed, what is probably now considered an 'old school' craft, design and technology teacher and are becoming more of a rarity!
The vast majority of teachers in this subject area enter the profession as post-graduates having done a four-year teaching degree at a university - or having done a degree in what is considered a relevant subject that qualifies them for a one-year post-grad teaching qualification. In the fourteen years I've been in teaching most of them don't know their tenon saw from coping saw (never mind knowing what a drift is and used for) and are far more interested in teaching graphic communication, design and manufacture, etc. I've no doubt said before that practical metalworking (still a subject up here) isn't taught at many schools...
