Old Tins.

I am in a drawn out clean up, sort out and rebuild of my play pens.

I have come across a few tins I used to keep items in. Some are cheep tins, some are old. Some are decorated.
It is the decorated tins I wish to save.



Any one got any tips or ideas on how to clean the tins up?

Don’t, they’re nice just like that. Rub over with WD-40 to preserve maybe?

Yes. ^^ I keep meaning to experiment with waxing metals, thanks for reminding me.

Plan A.
Hot soapy water, course cloth. Then bee's wax, soften with linseed oil.

I will select one tin for the test.

I often find a nice old tin and clean it with soap and water then rub some Briwax on it and buff it with a cloth, But i have a young mate(81) who pass them onto and he also collects the fancy modern biscuit tins... There are a few old tins in this old tool chest to be rescued soon.

My dad and grandad were both leather workers and cobblers, My dad never wanted me to be a cobbler but i guess deep down it is in my sole

Heel want you to keep your tongue still , toe cap any suggestion you're talking a load of cobblers to the wider welt ..
