At 400 heigh sleepers ain't too bad at all. It font have to be oak! Heavily tarred / creosoted or lots of different woods are more resistant to rot. Lets face it in another few decades someone will have changed the layout
Fashions change! Knew a bloke who had a stone cladding company once over - made a small fortune and folk just coulnt get enough of the stuff. Then almost over night it was as popular as a case of vd

This is one of my builds, old sleepers.
Cost from £5 for ropy rotted ones, they got cut down and used as half bricks.
to £15 for good ones.
