Old engine and gear box identity

Saved this from going in the scrap skip, just didn't feel right.

Has a crank and rods in it, lots of parts on the palette.

Question is, what's it out of?

I could be very wrong, my first guess is Renault.

The layout might help ID it, 4 cylinder sidevalve with siamesed (inlet?) ports ...

There's some lettering on the valve chest cover plate, may be helpful?
The sump gasket shape must be unique ( extra bulge to clear the oil pump?)

I used to work on an old hyster forklift with a side valve Coventry climax gas engine it looked quite similar.

Heavy haulage/plant company, big clearance going on lots of old truck and loader parts gone.

Would have been great for a collector, but that old no one knows what the parts are from.

Original owner used to have a couple of car museums.

Younger relatives were into motorsport, some formula ford stuff gone too. Apparently car went to US
