found this site and so far found it brilliant , anyways, my old clarke which i think is a 100e and around 25 yrs old was working fine (as they all once did ), however the wire feed motor has a life of its own and will only go at full speed when the trigger is pressed , it stops in the correct manner and i reckon it must be the small control unit for the wire speed, it looks quite simple with one large transistor , a potentiometer control and a couple of other minor components and 2 wires!
is this the likely cause of the problem?
if so where can i get a new one at a sensible price before i go daft and buy a new machine?
