Old clarke 155t

Hi, i need some quick advice on a Clarke 155t, i bought it second hand a few weeks ago and all was going smoothly then yesterday the wire kept welding to the contact tip whatever setting and wire speed it was on, it would arc on the work piece for a second and then stick to the tip, i stripped the torch and found there is no liner (is that normal for a 155) whereas my 160te has one, do the 155 have them fitted, do you think a good torch service is the answer as i've tried new wire and new contact tips with the same result, thanks, Steve

I would of said a blocked torch lining but if it hasn't even got one fitted that's your problem

thanku weldequip, have you any idea why it was all working good and then it just decided to play up, what is the purpose of the liner?, does it just act as a guide for the wire?, cheers

The liner does just that yes, a guide for the wire. They need replacing pretty regularly as they get clogged up, with copper dust, rust etc., and cause annoying feed problems. No idea how it would work OK without one!

You should of give us a shout SJS, could of saved you 50 quid!
Apart from a nominal 5amps, the only difference between the 165 & 160 model is that the 165 has a larger bore gas pipe on the back!

Damn wish i'd known, i was impressed with machine marts price, 280ish with the vat included (Which i can thankfully get back), does that seem reasonable?,

£299 +Vat on their website so yes, that's a good deal.
