Hi y'all,
I'm new here, but long past retiring.
I've been involved in engineering and car repairs all my life.
I'm not a welder by any means but have done lots of heavy stuff on furnaces and steel girders etc.
I have an ancient Clarke 150 TE turbo mig welder Which uses gas. I've never done great welds with it so I tried fluxcore wire. Even that was poor so I guess my technique was bad, until I learned fluxcore wire needs the polarity between electrode (wire) and earth clamp to be reversed. I don't know if that can be done on this old mig welder.
So, I bought a new Parkside inverter fluxcore with 0.9 wire included.
I haven't tried it yet, and I've never used an inverter welder before.
I'd love some pointers as to what to look out for, and how best to use the new machine.
Thanks.
