Oil seal restorer - does it work/anyone know what’s in it?

I assume the reason you don't want to just keep topping the box up with oil is water contamination?

The leaking seal, nicely lubricated with oil would be unlikely to wear much more - even if it does, it's still going to have to be replaced if it goes into proper use.

It’s my elderly dads outboard. He has no money and doesn’t want me spending anything on it. It’s very old and hasn’t worked for several years. I’m hoping I can get it going well enough for a few spins on the river while the weathers good. My mums in hospital and he needs a distraction. I’d rather not have the gearbox leak oil if possible without spending money on a knackered engine.
