Obscene Wealth... in Leith!!!

Shopping in Newhaven Asda (I know, I know) last night, and came out to notice just the other side of the flour mill loading bay, a rather black but well appointed looking "cruise ship" lying in the cruise liner berth. A second glance, and realised it was actually a private yacht. I've never seen anything like it, and certainly not what you expect to see in Leith - really a Monaco job.

See how many other boats you can count attached to this luxury behemoth, "Le Grand Bleu", once owned by Abramovitch, who "gave it" (gave it!) to his business partner, Eugene Schvidler. Here for the Fringe, or possibly popped in for a portion of corned beef stovies, more likely.

I think I heared that the cost of one of those can be roughly worked out at 1 million pounds per foot in length (adjustable either way depending on the level of luxury)

Saw the same yacht 2 years ago whilst on holiday in Turkey,it was moored just off the coast of Bodrum,a couple of the locals went out on in a motor boat to have a closer look and where quickly intercepted by 4 security men all tooled up who politely told them to back off!
I passed it while out on a cruise and it is an impressive sight to see

What I liked, apart from the helicopter, the gin-palace speedboat, the sailing yacht (you can see the mast), was the underwater "chariot" for taking divers about. If you look below and slightly right of the forrard radar dome/ wheelhouse windows, you'll see a black torpedo shaped thing. It's that.

Regarding big toy off Ocean Terminal, I tried zooming, not sure what it is, if a chariot type device, I reckon a toy, if a security get away feature, normally fitted to bowls of vessel. If I'm not too busy tomorrow, I'll maybe pop over for a wee look, not often you can view a toy like the one on the pic you posted, nice one!!

I thought from your first pic that the yacht mast was from a yacht rafted up alongside

It would be no good to me though as it is a bit to big to fit between my mooring buoys .
