Obd/diagnostic tool?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a car diagnostic tool? Thinking one of the Bluetooth jobbies then download the appropriate app? It's not for professional use only at home so not wanting to spend megabucks. Some are £20 some are £200 but no idea if they're 10 times better! Have a vauxhall and a VW now so don't know if same device can be used with different app for each car?

I went for the icarsoft , I went for a high end one that does all vehicles, and has free lifetime updates, so it should last me some time, these can even perform tests , ABS bleeding, and some key recodes etc. For cars like porsche it's the only way to reset the service intervals, so doing it at home will pay for the device after a few uses.

For your Vauxhall you could pick up a opcom clone unit, it won't do anything else but it will cover the Vauxhall in depth and is dirt cheap

I bought the £20 one, because it was that cheap, it can be useful to help diagnose the odd problem but it doesn’t really cover a lot and wouldn’t bank on it!

Other devices charge for updates , and there's usually a yearly charge. if you have a few cars in the family it's definitely worth it.
