Day two draws to a close. Cream crackered. Went in to low on this one. Won't lose but won't earn. Good one for the album though. Haven't sat down once in two working days. Could have done with a Gopher on this one.

On meterage I'm near halfway. In reality with balcony's and pitched roofs around the other side I'm about 1/3 of the way through. Recon an extra day should see me good.

I agree mate. Pays my bills though. Planning can be egits sometimes.
They haven't thought it through. I'd do lots differently to make it look less clad on and more oak framed but there's a cost that goes with it I suppose.

When I first read the thread I didn't like the idea as I don't like fake either. That is one of those houses where it was probably bigger/more imposing than they realised from the plans. Looked like an office building and I think the wood softens the look as I think I expected it to look worse.

Aye. Agreed. They did a lousy job installing it too. And the windows have been fitted too far back and the cills don't fit over the cladding. When I popped the folded sheet ally off I found 30mm gaps under the window. I could see insulation and slide my hands in the cavity.

Round the other side there's two downpipes right where beams are going. Seems nobody can read a plan.
I'm fitting beams. Down to somebody else to finish there job properly. Made the customer aware so he can get it rectified.

Still connected just twisted around. Installers didn't bother putting a top bracket on so its free to move around.

Though what ****** me off most is the timber. 200mm trimmers should have been thicker than the uprights for best results.
The reality. Some sit shallow and look good. Some sit proud and some sit flush. Edges have a 10mm chamfer.

Took the rebate plane and chisel to all the butt joints this afternoon and put a chamfer on. Looks much better.

Nearly binned the day this morning but can't afford the delays. Soldiered on with a banging headache and streaming nose. Joy.
Took the easier (if lifting 5200mmx200xx60mm oak solo is easy) option today. All the trimmers are fitted and pegged ready. Finishing touches on the last two days work as well. Recon I should be mostly done by Friday and some finishing Saturday morning.
