Anyone here use John Pye Ltd?

I just registered with them last night and went to their local auction rooms in South Wales last week but it appears they are all over.

A few friend and workmates use them and have saved lots of money. Stuff like bathroom cabinets for £12 and Large outdoor cooking grill and 8 (!!!) toasters for £35!!!
Only downside is 44% mark up on final price due to buyers premium and Vat.

John pye is a local company, with various different places. They do a lot of returns from John lewis, and currys.
I buy a few things but I feel that the vat and commission tends not to make it a bargain.
They also have car auctions at various sites.

any auction that charges vat and commission makes things expensive unless u can claim the vat back

Some of the stuff at Arthur Johnson and sons auctioneers at the old cattle market in Nottingham is vatable, their charges are 22% +Vat on certain items. Some times it makes you think that is it worth bidding on an item when you have to add the commission +vat or go and buy a new one from the shop. Its a bit of a gamble, you have to bid with your heart and not with your eyes and have a limit and stick to it and don't forget the charges on top of the hammer price.

I have a bit of a twitch so tend to stay away from auctions , the missus hates the stuffed iguana fighting a mongoose that I came home with once.

Well, my first experience went well, I got a £400 slimline stainless dishwasher still in the packaging for £53, 2 x 20l jacks of Petronas 5000 fully synth engine oil for £61, a low access 3.2 ton Omega trolley jack (used) for £42, 3 brand new pairs of genuine Heelies (trainers with wheels in the heel) for £31 and pair of Techwiz kids android tablets and cases for £25! All plus the buyers premium and vat of course.
I should probably make 2/3 of my money back on the bay and end up with a new dishwasher, trolley jack and 1 x 20l jack of fully synth for the next few services on her car for around a ton or I may just treat a few of the grandkids and make a little less return.
