Hello everyone, I am new to the website and I am learning the basics of arc welding. I have a SIP Weldmate T141P-ARC machine and I want to extend the cables. The factory cables state 10mm2 on the insulation. I want to fit longer cables to the factory ones with Dinse connectors. I can get 3 meter cables also 10mm2 so that my cables would be around five meters each. Would 10mm2 cable throughout be suitable in preventing voltage drop and melting of insulation thanks?

just look on the likes of ebay.....various sizes, just make sure u get the very flexible type...

For what it's worth, I would use 16mm^2 - ideally replace the whole run of cable.
welcome to the forum ,,,, I would tend to just buy 35mm cable , once your using dinse the cable can be used for anything and everything that needs extending , buy good quality multistrand cable with rubber coat , you will never regret buying good cable . yes 35 is overkill for what you have now , but it will totally futureproof you , maybe an earth lead for mig , or plasma or who knows , with a dinse on both ends they could double up as jump leads lots of options ,,,

Not-so-flexible cable is cheaper than -nicely-flexible.
You could get some cheaper cable in a heavier section and make extension leads with male & female connectors.
Put your existing leads on the end then you'll still have the flexibility in use.
Although extra joints and stiff cables are hard to store so unless the existing leads are particularly nice I would just fit new ones..

Depending on where you live (UK's a bit vague), for pointing people in the right direction to suppliers.
This supplier sells nice soft flexible cable at sensible prices (+ the postage costs), you might find 16mm or 25mm cable is cheaper than 10mm as some suppliers won't hold 10mm or sell more so have a better price per metre.
I would recommend that you buy 5m for the earth cable and 7m for the electrode holder, you'll work out why when you start welding.....

Is the reason that you want to extend the leads the weight of your AC transformer "buzz box" arc welder?
