Hello All,
I am starting a project where I need to weld thin mild steel 0.6mm ideally.
I have seen some MIG welders that state they can weld this thin but the amp output of different models varies wildly.
So can someone help me, is the general rule of thumb, the lower the lowest amp setting the thinner the metal can be welded? I will not really need to weld anything over 1-2mm so max power output is not an issue.
I am not sure TIG welding will be the best thing for a novice but I know that would be the best system and I don't want to waste money buying a welder that's just going to blow holes in everything I use it on. Budget up to £500.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Dominik
