I got all excited when I watched this;
The guy has the same generic Chinese vertical mill that I have, and he's figured out a way to get a Z axis on a DRO. Very good - if I ever get round to it then I'll try to copy this.
The thing that got me excited, tho, was that instead of getting the £200 Chinese all-in-one kits, he's using these little magnetic single axis units;
They're $30 in the US which suggests that you could build a 3-axis DRO for $90 or £75 (or £60 in old, pre-brexit, money!)
But when I search for them I can only find the US supplier, at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Igaging-6...037440?hash=item21178d0080:g:sxQAAOxyoMxSK9AD
These come in at £30 + £20 postage, so 3 axis is up at around £150 (plus maybe VAT/import) which isn't so bargaintastic compared to the all in one kits from China.
Has anyone come across these before? Any alternative suppliers?
