Well it needed to have two hinge brackets as they're using a fence post not a gate post....

They must have spent a fortune on hardware - cheaper to have moved the hole and put a proper post in, but it did make me smile at the ingenuity.

hardware must have been free...

a few right angle brackets would have done it ..
