not bad weather thats stopped play

started the annual Easter clean up of garage today .an hour in had to stop a robins built its nest in some gear on my shelf and sitting on 6 eggs will post a picture if they hatch out last year they were in a funnel on spare bench along with a blackbird nesting in me mobile comp on the pump

just looked and its back on the nest and sitting tight so can still go in and work at other end

I had them nest firstly inside my Fordson Major tractor on the battery, and when I sold that they moved to the battery of my JCB 803

We have a nice pair nesting among some universal column, tits nesting in titillation terrace which is a row of tit boxes I built, no rubbish as they even have lead flashing on their roofs, numerous sparrows in various hedges, and two pairs of blackbirds; I like to see and listen to them.

lol the pile is massive between 2 garages . will take hours to cut and pull it out probably about1000 quids worth after I put it through my cable stripper

Nice one BS, I like to see the wildlife reproducing as apparently Blackies, Robins, and sparrows are in decline due to losing their habitat

I used to have a tame blackbird who I saved and nurtured back to health, she used to come to me like a dog when it was called and she even got into the habit of coming for breakfast in the morning, she liked Corn Flakes with a little water on them and every year she brought her chicks down to see me and liked it when I hosed them all down on a very fine mist. She lived a long life in Blackbird terms and was taken by a harsh winter which killed many birds, and I still miss her.
If the sunroof was open on the car she would fly through it and sit in the passenger headrest and actually travel in the car with me, and if the tractor came out she would spend hours on the dashboard.

A month ago I knocked a bird box up out of plywood . A 25 MM hole as recommended for blue tits , it now his home to a pair of blue tits . Mind you they like having a good peck around the hole , maybe there trying to tell me the hole is a little snug

It doesn't matter if you have a Beech hedge as its a habitat for the birds and you're doing something for them, as for the tits, they do peck around the hole and its nothing to do with their size as they can get through smaller holes, they are building their body fat up ready for the winter and they do this through the summer while food is plentiful.

well can start working tidying garage up now 5 out of 6 eggs hatched and they were out of nest this morning squeaking and there's no noise now so they must have all got out

A few years ago I noticed a birds nest around 3' from the floor in our boundary hedge, with a large frog in it, I wondered if it was going to be dinner for a bird so I removed it (the frog) to the bottom of the garden under a tree about 50' away but next day it was back in the nest?
