me new axle (second hand), going to fit this ere disco axle to me 90, so i will have disc brakes alround then
i got hold of a right off disco, so had the ingine and a few other bits for me lr 90, ingine is in as is the transfer box, the axle is the last bit to go on.

not got a lot of work on at the min, so i thought i would get on and do it, put a cup brush on me angle grinder and cleaned it up, then slapped a coat of red oxide on, juas a coat of black now.

then fit it along with new suspension and shocks (all round) and a new a frame ball joint. plus a few other bits.

also a 12000lb winch

lmao, some old fence rails i had kicking about, not that good though rolled the axle over last night and it fell off

that's a pain i find them hard things to hold in place while working on them without them sliding across the bench

I knocked up these to hold axle on axle stands, maybe that's why they're called axle stands?

good idea, easy to turn the axle.

Pete if you have swapped too many bits over you might not have enough bits left to keep the VOSA man happy. You may well be into Q reg territory especially if you do your chassis for a galv one later.

For this reason I have kept both axles and chassis. Just swapped engine and gearbox.

he's only going to lose 2 points by changing the axle and besides it is a land rover one and i think the later defenders had disks on the back so he is "replceing worn out part" so looses no pints

as for the chassis, 20yr old and not a repair on it, so i dont think there will be a replacement for some time.

you can change worn out parts with no issuess even fitting a galv ones is fine as long as its to the same design
