normal grinder as die grinder?

I'd like a die grinder but cant warrant the expense.
Can adapters be purchase to use a normal grinder as a sort of 90 degree die?

Very good point indeed. No good for work but fine for home.
I'm thinking the carbide bits would remove weld in awkward places quicker than a grinding disk. Am I right?

On decorative work I often use one of the Aldi 'dremmel' type thingy's with a cheap carbide bit in it, more for cleaning up splatter than grinding back welds but it seems to work quite good and I think the last one I bought was about £16, multi speed and 3 year warranty... can't be bad at that price.

Get a cheap router with a 6mm collet. Take off the guide/handle bits - job done!

A "B" grade router like the Trend above is over £80, an Evolution die grinder is around £60. I know, coz I got one of each.

For occasional use just go for an ebay cheapy, £23 for a 240 volt one.

Not necessarily quicker that a grinder but if access is difficult then yes,
Buy the best tungsten carbide bits you can afford and you'll literally get years out of them.

Personally i think variable speed is important with die grinders.
If you are sticking to tungsten bits then fair enough, but I also use flap wheels in mine so need a lower speed.

compressed air ones are the best as u can run them at low speed with full power up to full, garryson cone carbide cutters are the best to buy and use i have the same one for years and its shaped a lot of stainless parts

i was looking at getting some carbide burrs.
and a cheap air die grinder from the bay
found someone selling a set of four snap on ones on ebay the ended going for around £45 ish..
turned out they was relisting them as soon as the listing ended.
i got out bidded in the last few seconds, yet i got sent a second chance offer.

on reading their feedback, it would seem they wasnt snap on ones. but cheap ones.
i decided to get a set of snap on ones. they are about £95....
but my local snap on dealer said they was doing a deal
buy the 1/4" snap on die grinder for £135 and get the four piece burr set for free.

how could i refuse that...
