non ferrous metal prices ?

The theiving sods have even started to nick copper cables from the railway signals now here. £2750/ton apparently in some palces for copper at the moment.

Heard on the radio today aswell, started nicking kids play equiptment, stainless steel slides etc.

Not a new problem this, I knew one of the line guys who electrified the southend vic-london line in the 60s, the only way they could stop the cables from walking was to only put enougth section in to power up that night.

I can remember all the pipes going from empty houses when I was a kid, I think it was just because it all got so cheep in the 90s knowone bothered.

Diving back to where it should be now the speculators are getting out. Too many speculators funded by you and me, and it was all getting a bit crazy. Good for legitimate recycling, bad for everything else.

Seems the clever money has now moved to classic cars, and I hear that elderly Renaults with patina of the floorpan will be the next big investment opportunity.

It's astonishing - because of the rarity investors are buying Renault 4s from enthusiasts for only a couple of hundred, and next day they trade them in the markets for £600,000* or more. Only ones with the patina though. They have to get in quick though as most owners are unaware of this trading. Any trader that found some dumb fool with 10 of them could make a killing, and they can only increase in value unlike houses, shares, oil and non-ferrous metals.

*or it could have been zimbabwe dollars.

Old cars are not even any good as scrap are they, nope was just my usual mixed swarf off cuts etc.... some yards are still paying £10 a ton on mixed, however as the trades dead most simply don't want it, reminds me of when I was on the F&M work........

BTW pretty much the same on all commodity's at the mo, My bio fuel guy, couldn't even get his stuff shifted off site tday...... just hope he can pay my invoice.......

Renault's, I'm hoping my ex AA brava, rolla truck is going to be my pay dirt, the Dixie horn only enhances the classic appeal.....

I've agreed tonight to pay a small fortune for a very cute '65 R4 which proves my point (I don't think it has patina of the floor yet but a few years in the UK will do the trick). Collecting next week from Provence.

Was out in a Brava today - gearbox fixed finally so I was using it for towing. Not very fast are they.

fast?????? Iv driven tractors with higher top speeds......Im normally pay loaded to well over the ton aswell..... the old non turbos, were much better (the turbo was merely added for emisions)... but the engines as long as serviced are bomb proof......
