My AdFlo PAPR unit is periodically making vibrating/rumbling noises whilst in use of late, doesn't effect airflow or filtration at all, but is audibly different to the normal fan sound and gets more frequent when I'm welding out of position.
The unit is donkeys years old (came with the NiCad batteries, and a flip-up fixed shade headtop).
The company I got it from (given away as they were switching from 3M to Sundstrom for all PAPR) had it serviced every 18 months, I haven't sent it off for service in the two years I've owned it, as I don't use it anywhere near as regularly as a commercial operation would.
Three and a bit questions:
1) is this actually normal?
2) if not, is it toast?
3a) if it isn't, should I pro-actively get it serviced?
3b) any recommendations for a 3M service provider who is cheap and reliable?
