Noco GB70 jump starter.

Just bought myself a Noco GB70 jump starter. Idea being that it will save me carrying a hulking great battery and jump leads uphill every time I want to use the tractor. Tractor lives outside and the electrics were nibbled away long ago. Alternator remains, but just as a fanbelt tensioner. I would not leave a battery on it in any case, as it would soon disappear.

Noco works OK, but I notice there are loads of them for sale that "don't charge" or not working.

Have I done a wrong un ?

I've had a noco GB40 jump pack for a couple years now, used it many times and it's never let me down. its impressive how many jumps you can get out of it before going flat.
With yours being the more beefy one I don't think you'll have any issues with it either.

They work very well but I suspect their "intelligence" is the problem.
@Nomad had similar trouble with his jump start pack.

I'm 3yrs into owning a Noco GB70, it gets used fairly regularly as I have 2 Jeeps that are moved at least once a week. Neither are road legal and the batteries are toast, reluctant to buy new batteries until they are ready to be put back on the road

No problems with it charging

I've got the 45x which i understand is the latest generation.
Crap, wouldn't buy another one.

Have the GB40, has been excellent so far. Holds its charge for ever and does several starts if needed before recharge.

I was close to returning my charger as faulty when I found what you need to do to make it work - now I know it works fine and I’m impressed.

Timing is critical, plug things in - wait xx seconds - do this - wait … easy but also easy to “confuse” it

Thanks chaps. Somewhat reassuring. I would have bought an even bigger one, but too expensive for me !

I guess my question should have included, can they be repaired. i.e. the intelligence bit bypassed ?

Do you mean actually read the instructions ? Normally the absolute last resort

I did ! and it was !! hence it nearly going back as faulty

( I even announced it on here before I read the book of destructions)

The kids bought me the biggest 12v one, its fantastic and I wouldn't be without it.
I know a few people who have them and never heard any complaints
