Hi, I'm at my wits end and have consoled myself that I just need to upgrade my welder. The welder is an old SIP migmate 105 that I have owned since new (15 years). I am trying to weld a 0.9/1mm plate onto a think cross section of a car chassis, but cannot get ANY penetration and its just popping back and leaving black carbon deposits around the weld area. I recently changed my gas bottle to machine mart disposable Co2, but the previous bottle was the same. Its almost like no gas it coming out (it is) and the ampage is way too low???
The welder has never really been that consistant, but given okay welds on thin metal thicknesses. But, from using more expensive machines it has always felt a bit cheap and nasty. After browsing the forum I found a member that was using this same welder to weld iron work that was way thicker than anything I have managed with my machine.
I was looking to buy either a sealey 150 or 185 model, but am in two minds if my machine is still up for the job. Thanks for any help!
