No penetration!!

I am attempting to weld 1.5" x 14swg tube end on on to some 3mm thick flat bar (50mm wide) using a clark 105en and co2, but failing miserably. The weld will not penetrate the steel, am i asking too much of the little clark or do you reckon a change to argon/co2 will help?? Thanks

check the quality of the earth clamp and cable. The welder should be up to that @ a push

And are you on the end of a long extension lead?

Are you using 0.8mm wire? 0.6 will not be up to this job.

i'm using .8mm and it's plugged straight into socked. Earth clamp looks fine and metals has been cleaned off. I just don't seem to be getting enough heat into steel, will argoshield make any difference?

my 130 amp cebora wont get through 3mm without a decent gap, so i dont think its your machine, leave a gap and mabee do acouple of runs
