Just good old fashioned blacksmithing.
Looks as though all the steelwork on these railings have been heated twisted hammered and riveted into shape. Around 20 panels and support legs and brackets and not a weld in sight, good to see some good old fashioned blacksmithing skills still exist. Must have cost a bit though.

And I'm on about the structure in the foreground not the backdrop but that was probably all riveted together as well.

Not so sure about that didn't study it in detail and don't suppose I'll be back for a while, even though it was a beautiful spot. Certainly the leg joins are riveted together

Not a bad thing! I just finished restoring a gate that was proper wrought iron so likely late 19th century and that was welded. As soon as electric welding was invented it was used to make their lives easier, why not?

Looks to me like he put shoulders on the bottom of the legs then rivetted the ends. He probably drilled the holes instead of punching them out, as the bottom rail looks straight rather than showing where it was punched. He might even have welded the ends underneath, but since it doesn't show it doesn't matter. Lovely piece of work.

No idea didn't look for a name plate but you would think that whoever made it would be proud enough to put a name on it
