No HF on Murex AC220

I've got a brand new Murex AC220, and went to use it today. But it appears I have no HF start. The HF led is illuminated, the plate thickness set, and the pre-gas is 0.5 secs. But it won't start an arc. I spoke to technical at Murex, and to test he said disconnnect the earth, hold the electrode near the work, and hold the torch button. I should get gas for 0.5 secs and then the HF should arc for 0.5 seconds. But I have nothing. Am I missing something?

Just trying to rule out anything obvious before I contact ESAB here in Sweden.

If you get nothing must be an input power problem. Either your input power or the internal control supply.
Should take it back under warranty

I can get it to arc, but only with lift+arc.

But I tried it again this morning, switched it to MMA and it froze - none of the buttons work, and then it throws an error message. I think it's what's known as goosed. Hmm, maybe I should have bought that chinese one for 1/3 of the price!
