Nitrogen air line fittings, brute force?

I've got a leaking fitting.

Plan A was to remove, cut the tube a bit, refit and check for a leak.

However pushing and pulling on the collar would not release the hose.

I'm now wondering if it's a one time fit and I need a new fitting.

Any suggestions?

Sometimes the green collar needs a sharp tap (upwards in your case) for the hose to release. An open ended spanner just big enough to go over hose, slide it upwards and give the green collar a belt, then try pulling the hose. Don't pull the hose prior to tapping the collar, it can prevent the collar from moving.

Tried that first, there doesn't seem to be much or any space for the collar to move up, but I'll give it another try.

I wonder if it's in nomansland and that's why it's leaking?.

Normally you push the hose and collar up together, keep the collar pushed in and pull the pipe out.

It would be really unusual for that to be one use only (but no impossible I suppose).

Sometimes you can push the line further in and tease the green collar out to seat it properly. Once that's done you might be able to release it.

Is that rigid/nylon hose, or more flexible poly stuff?

If it's poly stuff, then I don't think the push fit fittings are the correct size for it, in which case somebody has likely brute forced it in, and it's not actually made it past the seals.
Certainly any fittings I've had for poly hose aren't push fit.

It does look like Poly hose.
In which case the retaining barbs will have dug into the hose.

Use a hose stem when you refit it

Could it be a 1/4" od pipe in a 6mm fitting ? Or as said above pipe to soft for that type of fitting.

That close up pic does suggest the collar is already up, in which case the hose should come out. But if it's poly hose then as said above it's not really the correct fitting and has probably dug into the hose.

I plan to take callipers and a thread gauge tomorrow just in case I need to buy a new fitting. No one currently has a clue what the existing one is.

Depending on the maker of the fitting didnt the colour of the release collar denote imperial or metric, or did I just make that up?

Have you tried warming it and prising the green retainer down a bit ?

Cut the hose off. Push in a plastic knitting needle and bend the pipe back on itself (turn it inside out) so it looks like the outline of a giant letter C.

Look at how they install hydraulic ram seals with a three-legged thing. The tube needs to be that same shape.

Plenty of nitrogen used in the pub trade. All still being done on push fits.
Most of the installers are well up on requirements so I'd think it's ok?

Well I managed to pull the collar out and the leak stopped, however I'll buy a replacement just in case.

So what thread do you think this is likely to be?

I'm thinking it may be a G 1/4 inch.

Maybe this is the root cause, the nylon pipe measures as 1/4 inch rather than 6mm.
