nissan juke??

any juke owners on here?
I'm thinking of getting one.
it seems that diesel jukes are selling cheaper than petrol.
any reason why?
we probably do about 7,000 miles a year as well as 4,000 on my motorbike.
my wife use the car mostly for work which is about a mile and a half,3 miles there and back.
as I understand it diesel cars don't run too well on short journeys.
any info that may help will be much appreciated.

The particle filters in the exhaust system on diesels block up on short journies, they like a bit of a blast to clear them out occasionally.

Diesels have a bit of a bad name at the moment regarding particulate pollution and people suspect they may get taxed more heavily than petrol engined vehicles.

If your handy we with spanners and a welder then remove the dpf and get the ECU remapped to suit.

I think it's pot luck with the filter failure's, my IX35 is used a lot for short runs and has never had an issue, my mate's Skoda Yeti has failed twice in 3 years.

With lot's of short runs they should be ok if you give them a weekly run over 2000rpm for at least 15 mins or so to get to the right temp to burn off.

as for removal of dpf I'd rather leave as is.
I currently run a ford focus 1600 zetec 07 model and I put £20 aweek of petrol so I don't think that the JUKE(petrol) will be any worst.

you can remove the dpf, but, the vehicle will not be legal on the public roads, also will not pass a mot with out it,
saying that though the gov mention nothing about having the ecu remapped so the dpf is deleted from the software, plenty of vans running around like this now and passing mot, dpf unit is still fitted but software is deleted

You could hypothetically cut the dpf open, remove the insides and then weld back up. Looks stock from the outside. my mates golf was a strange one. The insides broke up and it was blown out of the back of the exhaust he thinks, possibly, maybe

on watchdog last week the juke came up as on of a few models of cars having problem with waxing in the fuel filter (diesel), hyundai was the make that featured but juke was mentioned as well, the cure was heated fuel filters,

I wasn't asking for your opinion on the look of the car.
every body have different taste other wise we'd all be driving around in the same car.

with the mileage you will be doing and the wife only doing 3 miles a day, think you would be better off with a petrol version, modern diesels do not like short journeys which is why these dpf are giving trouble

Yoo will be better off with one of the petrol versions. there are several version 1.2 Turbo, 1.6 and a 1.6 Turbo.

that what I thought to.
I had a choice of two for around the 5 grand mark one was diesel the other petrol.
tried ringing the no on the petrol one but no ring tone.
some thing wasn't right the code was for hampshire while the car was in sheffield .
also there was another of the same number selling a range rover in crew!
so I ask him or her why etc and that I was going to inform ebay and the police ...
needless to say he removed his add...
anyway I've decided to wait another year.
we've only had our car for two years and runs fine.
