I emailed the vendor to tell him he was killing his chances of a sale so he measured it properly.

Yes it's the 8.5" model. So weighs about 1.5 tons. Within reach of a plant trailer. He has also said he can offer delivery.
I am giving him tips to help sell it

I went to look today, definitely the 8.5" model, nice bloke, nice lathe, hole through spindle 2", I'd have it almost 1.8T in weight. Great it's not gone to the scrapper, it was nothing else but hesitation on my half as it would have been my first lathe.

I was hesitant in shifting it, not the lathe quality. But yes 'cheap castings' or something could not be used as an excuse for me being quarter a mile out. No tyre kicking, just upfront before anything was organized, and we had a great morning looking it over and checking and confirming a few things like dimensions etc.Ideal first lathe! Less likely to blame anything on the machine
Does the junior have particular points for lifting/lashing?
Think we're going to go with a plant trailer and dragging/winching it on
Thanks for offer, first lathe so complete beginner in this myself.
Weighing up the potential options and requirements, though think decided hiring a plant trailer would be easier than using the transporter
