mrsegg and I have been talking, and it would seem that a rise/fall electrical adjustable bed as used in hospitals would make her (and the family's) life *much* easier.
She won't be able to get in touch with her OT until the new year, and budgets being as they are, the SS might not fund one.


so... where might i get one? 2nd hand, and legit: not just nicked out of the skip at the back of the LGI !

I looked into this for my father before he passed away. They are very, very expensive. However, they are out there - I saw one in a charity shop when it was too late. In hindsight looking for one again I’d find out who repairs them and what happens to them when they’re replaced, you might find one that just needs a bit of work. Or perhaps see what rental is like.

One of our members quite a while ago used to get EX hospital equipment, Cant remember his user name, But Nick rings a bell, May have been Drnick?, I bought 3 electric rams from one of the Heavy duty hoists for putting patients into bed,

biggest pointer i can give you is

depends on which type of bed you are after

i can even offer you the electrics for the bed all it would need is the frame for it, i have both styles of motors and controls for either of these beds

ive had bargains and got what i wanted a double electric bed for 30.00

the hospital one for 50.00 i just wanted the motors and controler

ive ripped out a rising chair just for its motors and controler

she definitely needs the second sort: electric frame with lots of adjustments for the various bits.
NOT one of the wooden slatted type.

and now I know they're called "profiling beds" I know what to search for.

like i said before i have both style of actuators including the remote

id won the action from down south, the bed i would have prefered to go to someone who needed it did a deal with seller and gave him further options to sell it on
in end the guy did the deal and stripped the bed of motors and sent it all as agreed.

expect the bed price to be highish but if you want another option your welcome to the motors and controller just make a frame up

looks like a drive to gloucester may be in order: even with van hire + diesel, its gonna be £150-£200 for 3 of them.
If they sell for the high estimate, transport is double the hammer price for three - and I *might* get some profit out of others

Im only 20 miles from Gloucester if you need a hand this end, Dont think 3 will fit in a little Transit though.

just had a quick nose around their site................not to get off topic and threaten locking the thread, but some of the estimate prices for the equipment are ridiculously low, they must have cost a fortune when bought new........

i used to work for he NHS, the amount of waste is criminal, i regularly rescued pieces of kit from the skip, walkers and walking sticks were junked if they got returned, not that expensive but there were mountains of them

My mate bought one from Ebay and chopped it up to make an adjustable work bench. Keep an eye on Gum tree, face book etc as people who have them and no longer need them may struggle to get rid as transport is often an issue

My dad worked in EBME for a few months and used to scrap a few beds a week, I never heard of Hilditch taking them away. They took a lot of other equipment but never beds, they were always too ******** to be of any use. I ended up with a lot of actuators at the time.

Ditto, there are two us us and a Transit Custom (if it works!) available. Maybe we should have a 'Gloucester Chapter' meet up?

do the local NHS service not have a loan system in place, my father had the use of one after he was discharged from hospital after suffering a strok and unable to use the stairs
there were other devices such as hoists and handling equipment that were also on loan

one of the manufacturers (sidhil) are based near halifax

My BIL moved into a house and there was 3 in the garage. We looked on ebay and they either went for next to nothing or didnt sell at all.......so we took them to the dump
