Newbie with a problem already!

Hi, My name's Carl
I bought a 130 migmate turbo.
I suspect the wire feed motor has seized up.
I bought the Mig. Changed the wire as the last lot was rusty.
The motor moved then. Pulled the old wire out then put the new lot in.
But the motor will not move.
I need to repair it quickly as I'm welding my van up.

I tried pushing all the buttons and still no luck it just keeps clicking

Hi Carl, you haven't wound the tensioner down too much have you? Back the tension right off and see if the motor turns.

Tried that and no joy. I even took the wire out to see if the motor will turn but no joy

One thing SIP's are prone to by all accounts is buttons/switches staying halfway between ranges, that will give problems but as you say you've pressed all the buttons I don't see that being the problem.
When you press the trigger, do you have any feed to the contact tip and do you have feed to the motor contacts? Use a test meter on DC volts, positive lead to the contact tip, negative to the work return clamp and press the trigger, you should see a voltage somewhere between say 17 and 34 or easier still, press the trigger and touch the contact tip to the return clamp and see if it strikes an arc, that will at least tell you the problem is solely to do with the wire feed.
Open the case up, check the pcb for any crud build-up, I've seen that cause similar problems on here before.

OK there is an arc but the motor will not turn. I removed the motor and put a window regulator motor in it's place and it worked when I pressed the trigger.
So I stripped the motor down to find that the magnets are loose.
I need to see where I can get a motor from in the mean time,
I'm going to glue the magnets back and then put it back together.
I'll see what happens tomorrow.
