hey guys. im interested in getting into tig welding i have never really welded before am i jumping into the deepend of welding? im lookin a welder at a resonable price and easy enough to use. i cant stretch to the price of an ac/dc welder but would like a decent one for welding cars, manifolds suspension parts etc.. and maybe in future cages. can anyone advise me on wot to get, setups etc..? cheers

You will need AC/DC if you want to do aluminum (manifolds).
If on a real tight budget and have the chance to run a 32A power feed, a used, transformer (i.e. BIG) machine will work, I have a 750lb beast that got me into TIG for basically nothing. I did have to fix some minor electrical issues.
Check the used equipment area.
A lot depends on how much you are willing to spend.

For manifolds, I'd want AC/DC 200A or more. 160A will do steel.
My TIG beast is 38 years young. Only problmems has been it was not maintained. No electronics at all other than the diodes. Easy to fix if you have some electrical knowledge.
That is why I mentioned an older transformer unit. The new inverters are very complicated. The low-end Chinese ones are a gamble and most discount sellers don't provide good service (service only being the address inc China to send it for repairs.) When these are driven by price only, they will likely have used or counterfeit parts and poor workmanship.
The R-Tech ones have had good reviews here. They spec name brand parts, test them and provide local service.
