Hi I've only just started a C+G lvl 1/2 in welding and last week attended my first practical week.
It started with 3 days of oxy-acetylene and brazing which although was difficult I managed to produce 5 weld needed for the course.
However due to covid the training providers wanted to combine a 2 processes in 1 week. I have only spent 1 day on mig welding.
The issue I am facing with lap and fillet joints is im getting very patchy fusion on the bottom plate (not good enough to pass and not what I'm hoping to achieve).
The centre uses esab warrior 400a, I've set volts to 19 and amps to about 260. I'm using the leftwards push technique and vary the gun angle between 45 and 60' when weaving to the bottom plate. Sorry I can't provide pictures as city and guilds frown upon that sort of thing in their centres.
Any help you can provide will greatly be appreciated.
