Hi All,
Firstly, compliments on a great forum, very helpful. I am reading various posts and learning a lot.
I have done no welding before and so am a complete beginner , but am keen to get stuck into some art/ light furniture pieces. I tried doing a course before before ( years ago) but time restraints couldn't complete it.
So, from what I see here , I want to start with MIG with Gas to keep it simple and easy at the start. I haven't bought any equipment yet but my local metal shop has an SWP 150turbo starter machine for 325euro which seems like a good start machine ??? ( any suggestions ?) http://www.colmsteel.ie/product.asp...64&CAT_ID=64&P_ID=125&btnProduct=More+Details,
plus all the other stuff, has to be bought, safety, gas, etc. ( assuming all goes well can get adapter to use cheaper larger gas tanks and keep power down as will be on 13amp in garage to start with ?)
I understand the best way to learn would be to revisit the class I should have done before and failing that, practice is the best way to get better.i note there are also tutorials on here and elsewhere which will be great when I get a machine, however I would really love to have a fuller understanding of what is happening and learn more about the various techniques, tips and safety issues, gases etc. At the start which I am sure would be a good backup for actual practice.
I didn't see much chat about what the best book might be to explain and learn the process and was wondering if there is commonly used "bible" or is anyone had any suggestions on a good learning book. I am focused on MIG so something focused on that would be great. I got "Learn to Weld" by Stephen Cristena on kindle for cheap which is focused on MIG and will be useful I think and was just wondering if there are any other suggestions?
Sorry for rabbeting on !
Thanks
