Newbie on the block

Hi everyone,
I am in the process of buying my first Mig to carry out repairs on my MGB Roadster. I have been reading this forum and have been warned off SIP welders. I have my eye on a Clarke 100E Mig, does anyone have any opinions on this welder. I am a complete novice but I can't wait to get started. Any advice would be brilliant. I only intend the welder for use in repairing rust bodywork. Cheers

Hi and welcome

Yes a decent enough little MIG that will do the job for you, worth considering a 'proper' bottle of gas though, the disposables work out very expensive and don't last long.

Just be sure you won't get the welding bug and start to want doing something a little heavier, the 150 amp Clarke offers a lot more options, but if you are sure it's just car work then the 100 will be fine

another north wales boyo

a little extra power never goes amiss...most seem to prefer the 130 or 150

gas bottles... there is a place near me does them really cheap if you are not too far away
