Newbie ,hi and help please

Hi to everyone,
Newbie just found this great site and brought a mig welder,its a second hand sip migmate 105 which i brought off ebay.I thought it was a good welder,but after seeing this site ,wished i had gone for a clarke welder.
Did not have the money to buy new,and the bloke said it has only been used 3hrs,new bottle gas/argon plus big reel wire spare.Took his word for it and did not check it, was dark when picked up,and being a newbie would not no what looking for.
Well the side cover came off,the 2 screws were missing,not a big problem but the reel wire was a right tangle mess.The spindle that the wire spool is put on,no spacers to tighten the reel up slightly,so it just pours out.I cut some 15mm copper tubing and put a washer on to tighten the spool slightly,which helped.
I also noticed the gun shroud missing,took the tip out and went to feed the wire up.The wire will not feed all the way up,seems to of pushed some cable out of the end of the gun,which i take is the cable liner.So i am thinking i need a liner too,any help welcome.

hi there Have just finished doing up my grans house in Newark. Sounds like you have a lemon where to start... Untangle the wire then don't let go of the end! How far short does it feed are you using the motor to do the work?

something i have thought of on the old gun on the Clarke i sometimes needed to take the swan neck off to get it past that

hi there Have just finished doing up my grans house in Newark. Sounds like you have a lemon where to start... Untangle the wire then don't let go of the end! How far short does it feed are you using the motor to do the work?

I cut the tangled wire,but thought surely the wire spool should not move around on its spindle,so i made a spacer from copper pipe and tightened it up slightly.I turned the welder on and pressed the trigger to feed it up with gun tip out.
Not sure how far its has feed up,but some wire cable is now showing out of the gun,which i take is the liner.At a guess i would say its feed most of the way,and the cable pushing out of the gun is stopping it.
The thing is,when i cut the wire,i turned it on to feed the cut wire out,which came out ok.

Might seem silly,how do i do that,its all new to me.

The swan-neck unscrews, some torches have a left-hand thread in there somewhere so watch out for that!

Hi Bikes for me .Be carefull screwing off the swan neck tip I'm sure it's a left hand thread,so screwing it the wrong way with any force will damage it.I'm sure someone with the same model will confirm whether I'm right or not.

Got the wire feed now,brought a new tip and shroud so will have a go when get some steel to practice on end of week.
Does anybody no how old the sip migmate turbo 105 is,and how its rated.

there's a long running thread on feed issues on SIP many can be very erratic as the power for the motor is taken from same transformer as the welding current. There is also a few mods on there to sort it out a bit

I have a lot to learn,think there is a grub screw in the swan neck which is missing,put when i put the plastic sleve on and tightened the cover ,it seemed ok.
Thinking of replacing the wire liner with a steel one,can i pick any one up on ebay or are they different.

PM Weldequip He does a great service on parts, welders etc. When you get one gets tips and a couple of shrouds you will kill them learning (don't unscrew them when hot as you kill the swan neck)

Ive had mine for 7 years or so but without a pic no one can tell, look for a date stamp onm some of the plastic mouldings.

the swan neck is held in with a grub screw. The tutorial shows you how to replace the liner - and a steel one is essential for this model

and how is it rated?
