newbie advice please

hi guys and looks a great site ,will have a look about in a minute...ive just purchaed this sealey supermig 140.

first thing is im gunna hook up a large bottle to it
il be using it mainly for small jobs on a bike im building
my questions are these appreciate any help
il be welding max 3mm mild steel plate,box,tube ,mainly bike frames ect

what size wire shud i be using?have .6 which came with welder
and most importantly what settings shud i set the welder to start off with,i have it set at 2.5 wire speed

Welcome to the forum, for 3mm and above I use 0.8 but 0.6 will do you for some setting up welds.

Practice on some clean scrap through the power and wire feed range getting used to laying welds, you will soon know whats right.

The tutorial at the top is a great start and well worth reading.

thanx mate do i have the settings on 1 or 2 and min or max?and what are these buttons for?

depends on if your using gas or gasless for the settings i recently hired the exact plant.
