got new toy coming.
bought it cheap from model eng club i belong to, according to guy who knows about it as few bits missing.
not fussed as hoping to use it with mods to build heavy duty tubing notcher.
mum reckons i get more like dad every day.

Nice, I am planning on getting a cutter grinder for the new workshop when it's done.

It looks too handy to convert! All these milling cutters & broaches you could regrind! I thought you had a couple of unused piller drills laying around, wouldn't one of them with a broach or holesaw make a good notcher?

I have but only planning on using base for notcher along with switches etc.
Grinder bits will be boxed for now then eventually mounted to plate so can be stored when not in use.
Prob with notcher on press is struggles with bigger stuff at 45 degree angle.

Ah I thought you were planning to use the grinding spindle for the tube cutter.

change of plans.
now i have it here and stripped, motor and other bits came off and when i looked mountings for them were on removable base plate.
so plan is get some 1/2" plate for mounting notcher and any other bits.
switch is wired and works as is motor which is now on 3 pin plug.
will be fitting metal 2 gang socket to side of stand to plug dif bits in and use on/off switch on front to run it.
then put some beams in with hoist on so i can lift tops on and off, putting them onto wheeled bases for storage.

I have two of those, it's a Clarkson Mk1, but with modified dials by the looks of things because the Mk1 never had a graduated wheel on the height adjuster. Too good to modify as a tube notcher in fact you could probably sell it and buy a notcher with what it fetches. I use mine for sharpening mill cutters and grinding motorcycle gearbox dogs.

Not modifying it as such only making it so I can lift whole grinding unit of as one item.
Will bolt top sect back together as one unit later in week and put pic on which will show what I mean better.

Watch it because they fall over easily. I put a square steel plate on the bottom of mine and four trolley casters on the bottom.

it's cleaning up / coming on nicely.
more i read about them the more i decide to keep as is, very versatile bit of kit.
now all wired up with wheel fitted, need to derust other bits and make sleeve to hold collets.
fitted magnifier for checking work.

give me idea of what bits i need to get/make.
