New to welding Iam I using the right welder

Hi Guys, Brand new to welding so here goes, I thought I would have a go at replacing car panels by using the plug method.
So I bought a new Sealey mighty mig 150, I got 0.9mm wire with the machine there is no gas bottle attached, When in practice trying to fill the old spot welds I seen to burn the edge of the panel Iam trying to attach
The machine is set to the lowest power and feed speed about 4, Iam i using the wrong wire or is it because I need more practice, Ant help would be great guys. And I know dont tell me to sell the welder and go back to my old job

Sounds like gasless wire (most common in 0.9mm)

You need to practice on some 2mm or thicker steel. Then work on thinner stuff.

Gasless wire is too hot to do thin metal easily.

Hi Shenion,
Thanks for the tip I will start on some thicker material first, It is gasless wire, Should I invest in a gas bottle for this machine and also what wire would you recomend for the job in hand

Gas will make it much easier.

Look through the tutorials on "thin metal technique".

Easiest will be gas and 0.6mm wire.
