Hello everyone.
I am brand-new to welding, never had a need for it in my life at all. However, a month ago I took a job as a customer relationship manager with a company that produces customized electrodes and welding wire for a customer's specs.
I've been spending a lot of time in manufacturing wire and electrodes the past month, and it's been interesting. I've measured the chemicals to create a mix to fill the wire, and I've been on a mill to fill the strip with wire, then spent time on a bench to draw the wire to whatever diameter.
My bosses also want me to learn about welding as well so on Fridays I get to weld a bit. My company has some machines where I've done some oxy-acetylene welding, TIG, and today stick welding.
I will look to this site for resource so I know what welders expect from their wire/sticks and also to get familiar with the language welders speak in. Though that'll be tough since most of you are from the UK and I'm in the US, but I'll have to get used to that since we have customers in the UK as well. But I'm sure I'll learn a lot from the folks here and since I'm well used to posting on message boards, I wanted to post on one on a field that I hope to dedicate my career to.
