New to forum, need Air Compressor help

Hello guys, I read all the AC posts and did not see any of the questions I have answered. I have an older quincy air compressor from an industrial shop it has a 3ph 5hp motor. I also have a 5hp 1ph baldor L1430T motor that is new. My questions are on the magnetic starter and pressure switch (both for the 3ph) will they work with the 1ph motor? If not can someone offer advice, I am not going to try to wire it myself just want to know what I am talking about before trying to hire an electrician. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

They should work fine, just use two of the contact pairs, one for live and one for neutral.

the contactor will have a 415v coil fitted and will need changing to a 230v coil .also check the amperage rating of the contactor as the loading on them is split over the 3 phase at 415volt . the rating will have to be higher at 230 v to suit the single phase motor . the presure switch will work fine on 230v or 415 as its only operating the contactor coil . if its an old contactor the coil might not be available or worth changing .just buy a complete new contact starter

Wouldn't it just be a mechanical pressure switch (no coil).

The current rating might be an issue though.

the guy said it had a magnetic starter and a pressure switch. as u said the presure switch will be mechanical
and wouldnt take the load of a 5hp motor :so must be ran through a contactor
