I think you missed the point mate. Its an old drive that I am trying to get the data off it. Last week it was showing a drive letter. now its showing as unallocated.Just go ssd it’s not worth the hassle
Further update. Freezing it failed to help.
There is definately some data on there. I have tried using EaseUS and sadly it finds 7TB of files on a 1TB drive.
So it's not as simple as just copying anything salvageable.
It appears its found some misreporting files. Hence the stupidly high data count.
Any recommendations to recover files that does not cost an arm and a leg.
Call me untrusting but as Gaz seemed to question what was the software that reported the errors. Hard Drive Sentinel was what I installed and the fact it reported a failing drive was not totally strange BUT the fact the next day it becomes unallocated does give me cause for concern. I am dragging off what I can get off and then I will test the data. If its OK I will try to do something with the old drive so I can read it directly as a drive letter. How about a kidney and your first born?
I have paid (not my money) to have an SD card recovered. It was slow, hideously expensive and not very successful
how long did you freeze it for ? as ive had to lower it by a few hours and it was glitching and stuttering at that while it was trying to spin upWhat software is that? Sounds like it might be made by someone selling hard drives.
