I’m considering an air fed for home use, I think the only thing stopping me is the new regs/guidelines. I’ve half an idea that there will be some serious price drops as new stuff comes on the market. Anyone any thoughts?
I think he may be referring to the latest news from HSE that mild steel welding fume is carcinogenic.
The cost of air fed masks, ventilation equipment, fume extract systems has blown out of all proportion, with lead in times now a case of weeks, if not months.
Yes that Paul, there’s been some interesting changes in supply of particulate masks with 3m not supplying some masks as of last week. Looking at the airfeds on the market, they look massively overpriced, higher demand might bring some other manufacturers to the table. I really can’t see why an air fed should be more than 100 quid.
These new HSE regs have caused all kinds of panic in the industry. Some of our customers already have things in place, whilst others have nothing..
Air feds from our suppliers is currently ranging from exstock, to 2-4 weeks tops. Prices vary widely too, but then that all depends on what kind of quality people want. Prices as little as under £400, to well up into 4 figures.
Four figures is correct. Not so long ago when it first came out I bought the optrel e684 with the filtered air setup. Think it was about £1200 back then
