Got my pillar drill today from premier machine tools. Great service and good quality drill.

What do you think

What did that set you back??

£150 and delivery i think was £40

The description was

High performance bench drill, fitted with a low ratio gearbox to drill
larger holes, 8 spindle speeds from 90 to 4000 rpm, 2 morse taper
to the pull-down quill, 3 phase motor.

Sorry looking back at the website it was £175.... Still worth it i have seen them go for £200-250. You get a lot of spec compared to more expensive units.

Ahhh, he's the guys who sells the manuals. Bought a few off him via ebay - I always ask for a digital copy as they get covered in crap very quickly, he never replies!

Honestly? I don't want to pee on your parade, but that's really top dollar for a very basic drill. Never mind, it'll last a while I guess.

(Ah, 8 speeds = semi-geared head, in which case I think its a good deal)...

Yes i have not seen many low speed drills going cheap, especially 90rpm and having a morse taper.

I had the floor standing version of that machine thirty-odd years ago ..you wouldn't believe the number of times since I've regretted getting rid of it

it should have a lever screwed in there (shorter version of the one for the quill)
