I'm replacing the rear arch on a mk1 mx5 and have purchased a panel from eBay. My question is should I paint the inside of the panel with epoxy before welding in? My concern is that when I weld in will the epoxy affect welding?
It will lift it is too near the heat. Once welded in you could put some epoxy in a Shultz gun with a probe and blast it into the seam - you can also buy cheap camera probes to check you've hit everything
I have used weld thru on the inner arch but as its a reasonable size panel thought epoxy would be a good option but as you say I thought welding may cause issues with the epoxy. Can you epoxy panel and then just put weld thru on the edge that would be welded?
