New Mountain Bike

Plan A for the winter, run two bikes, one a road bike the other amountain bike.

Saw a nice Marin Mount Vision on ebay, made the guy a offer ad he suggested swapping it for a piece of sculpture. This sounded fine at first. But his plans got a bit carried away, so I paid cash.
Four years old, he paid £2500 for it and used about 5 times, still got some of the little knobbles on the tyres. Gave him £600 for it. Bargain. Fox float suspension, full XT and Hope brakes/wheels.


Weighs 25lbs lockout on the suspension so great on tarmac, decent tyres so great on ice and snow. Got it last saturday, put 100 miles it this week.

Probably go for a rampage up the woods tomorrow. I could do with some info on the suspension, has anybody got a manual? I am ok with setting up sag etc, just curious. Also anybody fancy getting killed in the woods anytime, I know a set of secret trails with bonkers descents and lush single track.

There's 18" of snow in the woods round here and I've not seen a bike since last Saturday. They wouldn't find you till it thaws

Looks like you got a good deal there,check out fox's website for manuals and set up as it depends on your weight,fork type etc ,I live in Devon so a bit far to travel for a blast round your local trails ,I raced last weekend in the Soggy Bottom xc series at Newnham Park,it was bloody cold but a great course
I run a specialized rockhopper hard tail for the xc racing,cannondale scapel full susser for those longer rides and a Focus Mares cross bike for the rough Devon roads.

Nice bike Chunko, you lucky thing. T'would be smashing to have a bike like that for Glentress. We've got great Forestry Commission MTB courses around these parts.

I see Herefordshire's looking a bit dry for the time of year. Do you get rattlesnakes at all?

I tried Anathem, got to the end of the first page and gave up. Not mu cuppa. I went off Neal Stephenson with the Quicksilver book, he still seems to be a bit to weird a thread.

Aw, shame. I couldn't put it down. Some great characters in there, and lots of funny words and philosophy, plus weird alternative history, ish. I thought you'd like that. I noticed some reviews on Amazon suggesting a bit of sticking-with-it was required for full satisfaction.

Cobweb and Interface are good too. Philistines wouldn't understand though, obviously.
